The stunning scenery, beautiful weather, plus the full range of hotels, are a set of favorable characteristics for practicing golf in the Riviera Maya.
The quality of the fields and the popularity gained among fans of this sport are so high that, since 2007 the Mayakoba Golf Classic has been held, the first official event of the PGA Tour which is played outside the U.S. and Canadian circuits .
The field chosen is the Golf Club Chameleon, designed by Greg Norman. With 7,093 yards, 18 holes par 72, this field is uniquely located between three different environments: tropical jungle, dense mangroves and sandy areas along the sea where the holes are separated by massive limestone canals. There is even a cenote in the initial fairway. From professional output tables, the Shark’s bite is a challenge in big leagues.
And as if these arguments are not sufficient to urge you to engage, the Mayakoba Golf Classic is the golf tournament that offers the most attractive prize in Latin America: $ 3.7 million. And you will, of course, compete with the top 132 international golfers, including a strong Spanish representation: Jose Maria Olazabal, Jose Manuel Lara and Alejandro Cañizares.
The sixth edition of this tournament will be held between 22 and 26 February.
Just a few meters away is the Blue Diamond*****GL Riviera Maya by BlueBay, an elegant adults-only resort, ideal for relaxation and refuge.
